Grown by CG

CG enjoys growing a wide variety of plants. His favorite in the early Spring is the daffodil. Close to a dozen different varieties offer more than six weeks of continual color. Iris (bearded, Siberian, and Louisiana iris) are another favorite. Lilys (daylilys and asiatic) are the most versatile for CG, giving color and interest from late Spring to early Fall.

CG has established a wide swath of dwarf burning bushes (non-invasive) in his backyard. They offer needed shade in the summer, splendid red foliage in the Fall, and interesting textured twisting branches in the winter. The dominant features in the front yard are 3 nearing-maturity river birch trees. The peeling bark and light dappled shade are nice features.

CG will often experiment with non-ordinary plants for his region. Last year, California poppies were grown from seeds. The results were less than spectacular, but at least one plant managed to survive the winter elements. This year, a few different types of perennials (of the bagged bulb variety) will be attempted in the farm bed.
